When the headlines move on and public attention shifts, how should journalists continue holding power accountable for crimes and past wrongs? How do we keep pursuing these stories and why is it important to push for justice? And when do we stop, if at all?
In this panel, we’ll hear from a Syrian journalist focused on accountability investigations after the fall of Assad, the director of an Arab journalism organization that has been investigating war crimes in Gaza and beyond and a veteran war reporter who took accountability to the next level by founding an organization supporting legal action related to the Ukraine war, now expanding to Sudan, Syria and Gaza.
They’ll share their experiences and discuss practical ways journalists can continue to work on accountability stories, even when the news cycle has moved on.
Moderated by Hoda Osman.
Organised in association with Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism.
