Finding people who don’t want to be found: how to remotely investigate and identify perpetrators of human rights violations and crimes

Descrizione

You’re digging into an incident – it could be an alleged crime, human rights violation or even a war crime – and you have the makings of a strong investigation. But you’re missing a central piece: finding and identifying the alleged perpetrator.
How do you find alleged perpetrators online who don’t want to be found or who have limited online presence? What easily accessible tools and tricks can support this work? How do you document your findings and include them in investigations, with an eye for accountability? And, just as importantly, how do you build ethical investigations and know when to stop digging and what not to publish? Join this workshop for hands-on experience and real-world examples to help bolster your own accountability-driven investigations.
The workshop speaker is Sophia Jones.
