At last year’s festival, Lea Korsgaard, co-founder and editor for Zetland, and Joshi Herrmann, founder and editor for The Mill, gave a session about how journalism companies need to stop thinking about news as ‘information’ and focus on connecting with people on an emotional level. The panel sparked dozens of messages and discussions with people who were in the room, and over the past year they have codified their ‘Romantic School’ of journalism into a manifesto and tested it as a playbook in their own organizations and others they support.
In this session, they will explain the manifesto, reveal the results of their work and explain how newsrooms can use these principles to radically increase their connection with audiences and increase reader revenue.
