Sudan is currently facing one of the world's most severe humanitarian crises, marked by escalating violence, political instability, and displacement. Journalists reporting from the region face multiple challenges: the complexity of navigating competing conflicts between various armed groups, government forces, and humanitarian actors; the heightened risk of violence targeting reporters; and the increasing censorship and government restrictions that impede access to critical information. This panel will bring together veteran journalists, conflict reporters, and Sudanese experts to discuss the unique challenges of covering Sudan amidst its multiple crises. Key topics will include strategies for reporting in conflict zones, dealing with government obstructions, the challenges of reporting when access is limited, and how journalists can highlight the human cost of the ongoing crisis despite these barriers. Participants will gain insights into how they can keep global attention on Sudan, despite a world that may turn a blind eye, and how to ensure that their reporting doesn't just reflect the violence but also the resilience and humanity of those caught in the crisis. Ultimately, the discussion will seek to empower journalists to effectively bear witness to the suffering and hold powerful actors accountable.
