Non si sa che fine abbiano fatto autisti, braccianti, medici e infermieri, giovani e vecchi. Cosa potrebbe accadere agli israeliani se i palestinesi non fossero più, allo stesso tempo, il nemico, il capro espiatorio, l’alibi? Cosa succede quando, nella propria vita, scompare il nemico? La scrittrice palestinese Ibtisam Azem firma uno dei romanzi più innovativi del panorama letterario arabo.
IBTISAM AZEM Giornalista e scrittrice palestinese, ha pubblicato due romanzi in arabo: Sariq al-Nawm (Il ladro del sonno, 2011) e Sifr al-Ikhtifaa(Il libro della scomparsa, 2014), entrambi per Dar al-Jamal (Beirut, Baghdad e Freiberg am Neckar). Il libro della scomparsa è alla sua prima traduzione italiana. Nata e cresciuta a Taybeh, a nord di Giaffa, Ibtisam Azem ha studiato all’Università Ebraica di Gerusalemme e successivamente all’Università di Freiburg in Germania. Lavora come corrispondente a New York per il quotidiano arabo al-Araby al-Jadeed e come co-responsabile della ezine Jadaliyya.
PAOLA CARIDI Saggista e giornalista, è fondatrice e presidente di Lettera22, associazione di giornalisti specializzata in politica estera. Si occupa da oltre vent’anni di storia politica contemporanea del mondo arabo. Ha tradotto e curato La rivoluzione egiziana di ‘Ala al-Aswani (Feltrinelli 2011, Premio Terzani 2012). Tra le sue ultime pubblicazioni per Feltrinelli: Gerusalemme senza Dio (2022), Hamas. Dalla resistenza al regime (2023, nuova edizione aggiornata) e Il gelso di Gerusalemme.
