Un’analisi sui nuovi equilibri dell’economia globale e sulle tensioni che attraversano il capitalismo contemporaneo sarà al centro dell’incontro pubblico in programma venerdì 21 febbraio alle ore 17 al Circolo PD E. Berlinguer Salviano–La Leccia, in via di Salviano 546.
L’occasione è la presentazione del volume La guerra della finanza. Trump e la fine del capitalismo globale, edito da Laterza e firmato dallo storico e docente universitario Alessandro Volpi, che interverrà per illustrare i contenuti del libro e dialogare con il pubblico.
All’iniziativa, promossa dal Partito Democratico – Unione comunale di Livorno, prenderanno parte anche Alberto Brilli, segretario del PD UC Livorno, Rocco Garufo, assessore al turismo e commercio del Comune di Livorno, Francesca Pritoni, vicesegretaria PD UC Livorno, Selene Altini, segretaria del circolo PD “E. Berlinguer”, e Mia Diop, vicepresidente della Regione Toscana.
Il libro di Volpi propone una lettura delle trasformazioni in atto nello scenario economico internazionale, descritto come attraversato da una vera e propria “guerra finanziaria” in grado di mettere in discussione l’attuale sistema capitalistico. Da una parte i grandi fondi globali – come BlackRock, Vanguard e State Street – che hanno finora esercitato un forte controllo sui mercati; dall’altra il mondo delle criptovalute e degli hedge fund, sempre più influente e sostenuto, secondo l’autore, da politiche economiche orientate a difendere il predominio del dollaro.
In questo contesto, l’Europa si troverebbe al centro di nuove tensioni, tra scelte di riarmo e tutela del welfare, mentre i Paesi emergenti, riuniti nell’area dei Brics, stanno sperimentando modelli alternativi alla dipendenza dalla finanza occidentale. Un conflitto interno al capitalismo, nato negli Stati Uniti e ormai esteso all’Europa, che – secondo Volpi – potrebbe aprire la strada a nuovi modelli economici ancora da definire.
