The Madaba Mosaic Map is a monumental early Byzantine floor mosaic discovered in the Church of St George in Madaba, present-day Jordan, depicting the Holy Land from Lebanon to the Nile Delta and from the Mediterranean coast to the eastern desert. Distinguished by its detailed representation of Jerusalem, the map has long served as a key source for biblical geography, early cartography, and the visualization of sacred space. Through the history of its preservation and rediscovery, the Madaba Mosaic Map emerges as both a spectacular religious source and a fragile witness to the ways faith, memory, and cultural heritage are shaped over time.
