Quando Gregorio Damian, giovane studente di filosofia, arriva in città per studiarne i costumi, non sa di trovarsi nel cuore di un esperimento globale, un luogo dove l’inganno è istituzione e l’autenticità un disturbo dell’ordine pubblico. Il taccuino sempre tra le mani, lo sguardo curioso, la determinazione di chi non si accontenta: Gregorio vuole capire, scavare a fondo. Intrappolato in un labirinto di apparenze, si ritrova presto a dover scegliere se restare spettatore della grande commedia collettiva o diventare attore del proprio destino. Attorno a lui si muove una corte esemplare: Don Fabrizio, finto aristocratico e sovrano della scena, erede di un impero fondato sull’estetica dell’illusione. Luna, presenza luminosa e indecifrabile, capace di attraversare i ruoli senza appartenere a nessuno. Ribelli ambigui e professionisti della menzogna. Spingere la finzione al limite è l’unico modo per incrinarla: la recita diventa allora l’atto estremo per combattere l’ipocrisia. In Maskeropolis Lorenzo Sassoli mette lo specchio del nostro tempo, una parabola lucida e corrosiva che interroga il potere della narrazione e la seduzione dell’immagine. Una riflessione sull’identità, sul bisogno di autenticità che sopravvive dietro ogni maschera.
