Viviamo in un’epoca di riarmo, in cui la guerra non è più l’eccezione ma la regola. Il segretario generale della NATO parla apertamente di «mentalità da tempo di guerra» e le cronache internazionali sembrano dargli ragione. Manlio Graziano smonta i luoghi comuni e le ideologie che da sempre accompagnano i conflitti – dalle «guerre di religione» al moderno «scontro di civiltà» – distorcendone e oscurandone le cause reali. Controcorrente, con acuto sguardo storico e rigore analitico, esplora la psicologia delle masse, il ruolo decisivo della propaganda nelle autocrazie ma ancor più nelle democrazie, e i meccanismi del consenso. Prendendo esempi del passato recente, offre una chiave di lettura storica per interpretare le dinamiche attuali delle relazioni internazionali, le logiche di competizione, gli interessi economici e le visioni del mondo che alimentano lo scontro e rendono un conflitto tra le grandi potenze una possibilità reale. Manlio Graziano è un politologo. Oltre a Sciences Po e alla Sorbona ha insegnato alla Haute Ecole de Commerce (HEC), e all’American Graduate School in Paris al Geneva Institute of Geopolitics. Vive e lavora a Parigi, insegna all’Università Bicocca di Milano e al Geneva Institute of Geopolitical Studies. È stato docente di Geopolitica e Geopolitica delle religioni alla Paris School of International Affairs di SciencesPo e alla Sorbona. Dirige il Nicholas Spykman International Center for Geopolitical Analysis, scrive sul «Corriere della Sera», e numerose riviste. Nel 2026 ha pubblicato Come si va in guerra (Mondadori).
