From J-schools teaching experimentation and audience thinking to early-career professionals building products that respond to real community needs, the next generation works differently: user-first, cross-functional, and unafraid of AI. This session dives into who they are, how they think, and why they’re poised to influence everything from audience strategy to organizational change.

Delfina Arambillet
Delfina Arambillet is a journalist working at the intersection of artificial intelligence and media, with a focus on trust and responsible innovation. She currently works at Globant’s Sustainable Business Studio, where she leads AI and sustainability initiatives for Fortune 500 companies, with a focus on Responsible AI and the societal impact of emerging technologies. She supports global organizations in embedding ethical, trustworthy, and future-proof AI practices into their products and business strategies. She also advises the impact strategy of the Be Kind Tech Fund, Globant’s venture capital fund investing in startups addressing the risks and unintended consequences of technology on society. She also works as a consultant and mentor for media organizations across Latin America, helping them design AI-powered information interfaces that bridge the growing gap between the information produced by media organizations and the ways people consume and trust information today. She supports newsrooms in rethinking formats, distribution, and user experiences—moving beyond traditional products toward adaptive, audience-centered information systems that strengthen verification, relevance, and credibility. Previously, she was part of LA NACION’s data journalism team (LN Data), where she led data- and AI-driven projects focused on investigative journalism, innovation, and audience trust. In 2022, the team was awarded the Sigma Awards’ Best Data Journalism Portfolio in the world. She has also served as a professor of Data Journalism at the Argentine Catholic University (UCA) and of Data Visualization at Torcuato Di Tella University (UTDT).
Sydney Lewis
Sydney Lewis is an associate product manager at The Minnesota Star Tribune where she leads Strib Varsity, a new product covering 32 high school sports across the state. She is an alumna of the News Product Management Certification program from the News Product Alliance and the Newmark Graduate School of Journalism, and a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism. She was previously a product intern at The Texas Tribune and NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune focusing on education products and newsletters. Sydney is passionate about building concrete career paths for emerging news product thinkers. In 2024, she created The Minnesota Star Tribune’s first product internship where she seeks to build a talent pipeline for college students interested in the intersection of news and product.
Teresa Mondria Terol
Teresa Mondría Terol is a product engineer and journalist on the AI Initiatives team at The New York Times. She specializes in leveraging artificial intelligence and other machine-learning algorithms to enhance investigative reporting. Often, that involves performing computational analyses to help sift through extremely large data sets. She also builds software tools that help reporters and editors use these technologies themselves. Before joining The Times, she worked in product operations at The Browser Company, where she specialized in A.I. quality, and held data science and A.I. positions at Chartbeat and the United Nations. She also conducted research on media audience behavior with the Brown Institute for Media Innovation and Columbia Climate School. She started her career as a product manager in Spain, working with the media outlet El Orden Mundial and the innovation firm Igeneris. She holds a master’s degree in Quantitative Methods from Columbia University, a master’s degree in Journalism Innovation from Miguel Hernández University, and a dual bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Media Studies from Carlos III University of Madrid.
Aldana Vales
Aldana Vales is the Director of Audience Experiences at Gannett - USA TODAY Network. Specializing in understanding how people interact with journalism, she focuses on helping local newsrooms build direct connections with their readers, viewers, and listeners. Her efforts to enhance the overall on-platform experience and create a more intuitive and engaging digital environment reach more than 200 local communities in the U.S. Prior to joining Gannett, Aldana worked on audience and community research for The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic and Documented.
