Katerina Eva Matsa

Katerina Eva Matsa is Director of News and Information Research at Pew Research Center, where she leads research on how people consume, trust, and navigate news in a rapidly changing media environment. Her work examines audience behavior, political polarization, platform dynamics, and the evolving relationship between journalism and the public in the U.S. She also leads the Pew–Knight Initiative, a collaboration with the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation that supports research on the future of journalism and democratic information systems.



Matsa’s work is widely cited by journalists, policymakers, and scholars, and she regularly speaks at international forums on media trust, digital platforms, and journalism.
